(CAMDEN) – Senator Donald Norcross released the following statement in response to the Schools Development Authority’s (SDA) adoption of rules to allow former Abbot school districts to construct much-needed new schools. The move comes after yesterday’s state appellate court ruling that forced the SDA to do so. Norcross is the Chairman of the School Facilities and Construction Subcommittee of the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Public Schools.
“Children living in our urban centers are one step closer today to having the new schools they so desperately need. It is unfortunate that it took four years and yesterday’s appellate court ruling for the SDA to act on behalf of our state’s students. Now we must monitor how the SDA chooses to implement these rules so we can finally get to the business of repairing and constructing the schools that our children in urban areas deserve.”
