SENATOR DONALD NORCROSS STATEMENT ON SDA ANNOUNCEMENT OF 2012 EMERGENT PROJECTS PROGRAM

(CAMDEN) – Senator Donald Norcross released the following statement in response to this morning’s announcement by the Schools Development Authority (SDA) identifying emergent projects poised to advance in 2012. Of the seventy-six projects listed, six schools in Camden City were named, as well as two projects at one Gloucester City elementary school.

“It is long overdue that the SDA addresses the safety issues in so many of our public schools, and this announcement must be followed by action. As the Chairman of School Facilities and Construction for the Joint Committee on the Public Schools, I understand the importance of these repairs in Camden and Gloucester City. These students have been attending class in crumbling buildings for far too long. This is only an intermediate step toward the SDA’s mandate of providing clean and healthy schools for the children of New Jersey.”
